Overview
The exhibition title reflects a unique combination of reflections and perspectives on various themes — so powerful and exciting that it creates an intense impression of spontaneity and verve, as if you were listening to a melody in the rhythm of jazz. A constant openness to different possibilities is the sound that each painting contains.
Saša Mesić is an unusual presence in the art world — inventive and daring, she has spent her entire life sailing freely through artistic waters, always remaining true to herself. Painting, art photography, sculpture, experiments with ambient installations, ceramics, and jewelry design — these are all spaces of imagination that she combines with ease. The world of color is her domain, and nature her perpetual inspiration.
In this cycle of paintings, an intuitive interpretation of reality transforms into countless mysterious visions — a wondrous blend of the sentimental and the sensual, the real and the unreal. This gaze of wonder is filled with hope, energy, and the beauty that makes our planet magnificent. There is a pronounced affinity for symbolism and strong, vivid colors.
The celebration of color, optimism, and vitality of brushstrokes possess a universal power that reaches every heart. They often irresistibly recall the idyllic atmosphere of sun, warmth, and the pearly sea along the Mediterranean coast. Chagall's definition that art is "first and foremost a state of the soul" can also define Saša's paintings.
Her paintings possess a rhythm that encompasses and covers the entire canvas. Saša Mesić tests contemporary sensibilities and fears of the unknown — her colors bring the energy of healing. Her messages are timeless: they affirm freedom, imagination, tolerance, and respect for all that is different.
Why the desire to show her first solo exhibition in Sarajevo? "I had a wish for it to be Sarajevo," the artist explains. "It's like when you crave chocolate and don't really know why. Perhaps it's the Bosnian open spirit, perhaps the bravery of the people of Sarajevo in the recent war, perhaps because of Valter who defends Sarajevo — I adore that film!"
The artist emphasizes the power of energy exchange: "Paintings should go where they will be best for the common good, because paintings emit energy and that energy should be shared with other people. I'm sure I made the right decision and that we will have a wonderful exchange of energies." After Sarajevo, the exhibition continued to Kaštel Morosini-Grimani in Svetvinčenat, Istria.
